Halliburton to transition from Blackberry to Apple iOS
Apple Insider has obtained an exclusive story about Halliburton's plan to phase out RIM's Blackberry in favor of Apple's iOS platform.
The move comes after "significant research" into both Apple's mobile platform and Google's Android operating system led Halliburton to "determined that the iOS platform offered the best capabilities, controls and security for application development."Halliburton has about 4,500 employees using Blackberries and will be replacing them with iOS devices such as iPhones and iPads.
This comes as no surprise to us as the Apple iOS Enterprise platform does indeed offer a superior platform for companies planning to transition their platforms from legacy ones.
Firstly, the iOS platform is familiar to many end-users with its high penetration rate amongst consumers. Secondly, the easy availability of developers familiar with the iOS platform means that applications can be developed quickly. Thirdly, the large developer community also means an easy availability of resources such as code libraries, controls, documentation and training. Finally the iOS platform is no less secure than any other platforms.
